First Annual TiDe Workshop  
August 10-13, 2023

The TiDe community gathered for the first annual TiDe workshop August 10-13, 2023, at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in Alexandria, VA. Workshop attendees included the first TiDe Cohort of faculty and student trainees, the TiDe Advisory Committee, the TiDe Executive Committee, TiDe staff and Evaluation Team as well as guests and partners. The workshop attendees participated in a variety of different presentations, panel discussions and small group meeting addressing the TiDe program requirements and goals, as well as the reasons that the TiDe program is so imperative for the rehabilitation research community. Workshop attendees heard from keynote speaker, Dr. Marie Bernard, Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity at the National Institutes of Health on “Scientific Workforce Diversity: Current State, Future Plans.” Attendees also heard from Dr. Gregory Hicks, Associate Vice President for Clinical and Translational Research at the University of Delaware and one of the Principal Investigators of the TiDe Program. His keynote address, “Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility: A Rehabilitation Science Mandate” focused on priorities and strategies for advancing rehabilitation science culture and public health impact. These two addresses were complemented by several panel discussions and breakout sessions.
